Streaming news roundup: the biggest sports week of the summer — the Derby tonight, the World Cup semifinals, and the All-Star Game

Four marquee events in four days, spread across three different services: the Home Run Derby is on Netflix tonight, the World Cup semifinals hit FOX Tuesday and Wednesday, the All-Star Game follows Tuesday night, and the NHL's 2026-27 schedule drops midweek. Here's where each one lives.

The gist: This is the busiest sports week of the summer, and the catch is that it's scattered — four marquee events in four days across three different services. The Home Run Derby is on Netflix tonight, the World Cup semifinals land on FOX Tuesday and Wednesday, the All-Star Game follows Tuesday night, and the NHL's 2026-27 schedule drops midweek. Here's exactly where each one lives, so you're not scrambling at first pitch.

Tonight: the Home Run Derby moves to Netflix

The T-Mobile Home Run Derby is tonight at 8 p.m. ET from Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia — and for the first time, it's on Netflix, not ESPN. It moved as part of MLB's new national rights deal, so if you were planning to flip to ESPN out of habit, that won't work this year. Any Netflix plan gets you in; no separate sports add-on needed.

Tuesday and Wednesday: the World Cup semifinals

The tournament is down to its final four, and the semifinal field is as strong as it gets — the top four teams in the world:

  • Tue, July 14, 3 p.m. ETFrance vs. Spain (AT&T Stadium, Dallas)
  • Wed, July 15, 3 p.m. ETEngland vs. Argentina (Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta)

Both are on FOX in English and Telemundo in Spanish (streaming on Peacock). Messi's Argentina, the defending champs, needed extra time to get past Switzerland; England edged Norway on a Jude Bellingham extra-time winner. The third-place match is Saturday, July 18 (5 p.m. ET), and the Final is Sunday, July 19 at 3 p.m. ET from MetLife Stadium — all on FOX.

Tuesday night: the All-Star Game on FOX

Right after Tuesday's semifinal, the MLB All-Star Game airs at 8 p.m. ET on FOX from Philadelphia. Convenient quirk: the World Cup semi (3 p.m.) and the All-Star Game (8 p.m.) are both on FOX, five hours apart — so Tuesday is a one-channel day, with the Derby the night before on a completely different service.

That's the wrinkle worth planning around: three marquee events, two nights, two different services. Netflix tonight, FOX tomorrow.

Midweek: the NHL's 2026-27 schedule drops

Hockey's calendar arrives this week. The NHL reveals its opening-night matchups Wednesday, July 15 (on ESPN) and the full 2026-27 regular-season schedule Thursday, July 16 — an 84-game slate, the league's first since 1993-94.

If your team was on one of the shuttered FanDuel regional networks, this is also the stretch where local TV homes get settled — the Red Wings are moving to Detroit SportsNet and the Predators to Scripps Sports, while the Blues still haven't announced where their games will land. We covered the full local-TV picture here.

(Also this week: ESPN has Ohtani's Dodgers visiting Bryce Harper's Phillies on Monday, July 20 at 7 p.m. ET, as baseball returns from the break.)
