Streaming news roundup: Bucks+ is live for Wisconsin fans, MLB Division Series starts Saturday, and the Blues open tonight on TNT

The gist: The Milwaukee Bucks launched Bucks+ yesterday — a Wisconsin streaming option for locally televised games, priced at $19.99 a month or $99.99 for the season, starting with Monday's preseason tip. MLB's Division Series opens tomorrow with the matchups set. And the Blues open the regular season tonight at Dallas on TNT.

Around the Markets

Milwaukee: Bucks+ joins the team's local TV package

On Thursday, October 1, the Bucks announced Bucks+, a direct-to-consumer stream for fans in Wisconsin who want locally televised games on phones, tablets, and connected TVs.

What you need to know:

  • Price (as of Oct. 1): $19.99 per month, or $99.99 for the season.
  • Where to buy: the NBA app, or bucks.com/bucksplus.
  • Who can subscribe: Wisconsin residents in the Bucks' local distribution area (the storefront checks eligibility by ZIP).
  • What it carries: all locally televised Bucks games, subject to national broadcast exclusivity (ESPN, ABC, NBC, Peacock, Prime Video, etc.).
  • When it starts: Monday, October 5, 7 p.m., preseason vs. Minnesota at Fiserv Forum.

Bucks+ sits alongside the team's over-the-air package on MY24 in Milwaukee and Wisconsin affiliates (WBAY 2.3 Green Bay, WISC 3.2 Madison, WKBT 8.2 La Crosse–Eau Claire, WJFW 12.2 Wausau–Rhinelander; Duluth–Superior still TBA). Streaming is the new path; antenna remains the linear one.

Industry context that matters for fans: of the teams that left Main Street Sports Group after last season, Sports Business Journal reports the Bucks are the second (with the Thunder) to use the NBA's in-house DTC platform rather than DAZN. The team framed the NBA app deal as a one-year arrangement and noted it could ease a move if the league's reported YouTube local streaming hub arrives for 2027-28 — that hub is still reported, not final.

Out-of-market fans still use NBA League Pass / Team Pass for non-national Bucks games outside Wisconsin; those products black out in-market local games.

St. Louis: Blues open tonight — on TNT, not Blue Note+

The Blues' regular-season opener is tonight, Friday, October 2, at 8 p.m. CT at Dallas. Per the team's preview, tonight's game is on TNT, truTV, and HBO Max (national window) — so you do not need Blue Note+ for this one.

For the rest of the in-market schedule, Blue Note+ remains the local home: Prime Video add-on at $19.99/mo or $99.99/yr (required on top of any Prime tier), plus Spectrum (channel TBA) and Fubo (Pro or Sports; My Local Sports add-on path on Fubo Sports). Details are in our Blue Note+ on Fubo post and Monday's roundup. No new carriage or price movement since then.

Paramount–Warner Bros. Discovery: judge cleared the path; close targeted for Oct. 6

Update from Wednesday's post: on September 30, U.S. District Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín approved Paramount's settlement with the 12 state attorneys general, clearing the last major legal barrier. Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery then said the merger is expected to close October 6, 2026, subject to customary closing conditions (company IR statement Sept. 30; Reuters, Variety). Mattel's Ynon Kreiz joins Paramount October 5 and becomes co-CEO at closing alongside David Ellison.

Status: settlement approved; close anticipated Oct. 6, not yet completed. Fan bottom line: no announced changes to where baseball, hockey, or other sports air, or what they cost. TNT Sports (AL playoffs on TBS / truTV / HBO Max, plus NHL national windows) would share an owner with CBS Sports and Paramount+ after close — packaging and carriage details for fans still TBD. Nothing to rearrange today.
