The Blues' local broadcasts get a name and a cable home: Blue Note+ arrives on Spectrum

The St. Louis Blues have named their new team-owned broadcast operation Blue Note+ and signed a carriage deal with Spectrum, adding a cable path alongside the previously announced Prime Video streaming. Here's what's new, what it costs, and what's still to come.

The gist: The Blues’ broadcast plans got two more pieces today. The team’s regional games now have a brand, Blue Note+, and a cable home: Spectrum, the biggest provider in St. Louis, will carry it all season. What’s new today

Two things. First, the Blues have named their team-owned regional broadcast operation Blue Note+ (say it “Blue Note Plus”). Second, they’ve signed a carriage deal with Spectrum, the largest cable provider in the St. Louis area, to carry Blue Note+ all season. That adds a cable path on top of the Prime Video streaming option the team announced earlier this month.

Blue Note+ is the Blues’ own broadcast product, produced with support from the NHL’s centralized production group, and it covers 73 locally produced games this season: every regular-season game beyond the 11 going to national partners.

The two ways to watch, so far

• Prime Video (streaming): $19.99 a month or $99.99 a year, with a standard Amazon account (no paid Prime membership needed).
• Spectrum (cable): carried all season; the channel number and launch date will be posted at stlouisblues.com/watch once confirmed.

The Blues say they’re still negotiating with other cable, satellite, and digital distributors, so more ways to get Blue Note+ are likely before or during the season.

The catch: not live yet

Two caveats worth knowing. Prime Video subscriptions aren’t on sale yet, and Spectrum hasn’t published a channel number or launch date. The team is taking sign-ups for launch updates. So while the picture is much clearer than it was a month ago, this isn’t the week to switch TV providers just for the Blues: wait for the confirmed channel and go-live details.
