The gist: The Blues announced this morning that 10 Thursday games will air on First Alert ABC (ABC 32) in St. Louis, plus Gray Media stations in 10 other markets, starting Oct. 22 against Vegas. Those games stay on Blue Note+ as well. Both League Championship Series are also on today. The NLCS (Dodgers at Brewers, Game 2) airs at 5 p.m. ET on FOX/FS1, and the ALCS opens at 8 p.m. ET on TBS/truTV with a stream on HBO Max. Away from the field, the College Football Playoff's exclusive 30-day window to negotiate expanded-playoff TV rights with ESPN closed Friday without a deal. Both sides say talks are continuing.

Around the Markets

St. Louis: 10 Blues games are coming to First Alert ABC (ABC 32). The Blues and Gray Media announced Monday, Oct. 12, a multi-year deal to simulcast 10 Blue Note+ telecasts on First Alert ABC. That's Gray's new ABC station in St. Louis, KDTL channel 32.1. The package is called "Thursday Night Blues," and every game in it falls on a Thursday. Gray will also carry the games on its stations in 10 other markets in the Blues' territory: Kansas City; Springfield, Mo.; Cape Girardeau, Mo./Paducah, Ky.; Quincy, Ill.; Peoria, Ill.; Topeka, Kan.; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Davenport, Iowa; Evansville, Ind.; and Ottumwa, Iowa.

The 10 games (times Central, as listed for ABC 32 in St. Louis):

  • Thu., Oct. 22 vs. Vegas, 7 p.m.
  • Thu., Nov. 5 at New Jersey, 6 p.m.
  • Thu., Nov. 19 at Pittsburgh, 6 p.m.
  • Thu., Dec. 17 at Boston, 6 p.m.
  • Thu., Dec. 31 at Vegas, 2 p.m.
  • Thu., Jan. 21 at Montreal, 6 p.m.
  • Thu., Jan. 28 vs. Colorado, 7 p.m.
  • Thu., Feb. 25 vs. Vancouver, 7 p.m.
  • Thu., March 11 vs. San Jose, 7 p.m.
  • Thu., March 25 vs. N.Y. Islanders, 7 p.m.

Where to find ABC 32 in St. Louis, per the team: antenna channel 32.1; Spectrum channel 12 (the old KDNL slot); Dish, DirecTV and AT&T U-verse channel 30. The team also says it's on Hulu + Live TV, Fubo, YouTube TV "and other major streaming providers." In the other markets, the team says to check local listings or stlouisblues.com/watch for the channel.

How it fits with Blue Note+. These are simulcasts of the Blue Note+ broadcasts, with the same announcers. The other 63 of Blue Note+'s 73 games stay on Blue Note+ only, and the pregame and postgame shows are on Blue Note+ only. The ways to get Blue Note+ haven't changed since Friday's update: the Prime Video add-on, Spectrum and Fubo. The Blues said Friday that DirecTV/U-verse and Comcast still have no Blue Note+ deal. On those providers, these 10 Thursday games are the exception you can watch through your local ABC station. Nothing has changed for the 11 national games (ABC, ESPN, ESPN+/Hulu, TNT).

What we don't know yet: the channel and exact broadcast window in each of the 10 other Gray markets (the team says to check local listings), and whether any more Blue Note+ games will be added.

National

MLB: how to watch both LCS series this week. This updates the LCS schedule in Friday's roundup with the matchups that are now set.

  • NLCS: Dodgers vs. Brewers (FOX / FS1). Milwaukee won Game 1 on Sunday, 2–1. Game 2 is today, Monday, Oct. 12, at 5 p.m. ET on FOX/FS1, and it also streams on FOX One. The series then moves to Los Angeles for Game 3 on Wednesday, Oct. 14 (8 p.m. ET), Game 4 on Thursday, Oct. 15 (9 p.m. ET) and, if needed, Game 5 on Friday, Oct. 16 (9 p.m. ET). Games 6 and 7, if needed, are Oct. 18 and Oct. 19 in Milwaukee. FOX is an over-the-air network, so carriage depends on your local affiliate. FS1 is cable or streaming only. Game-by-game network assignments are on the Friday schedule linked above.
  • ALCS: Guardians vs. Rays (TBS / truTV / HBO Max). Cleveland came back from 0–2 and beat the White Sox in Saturday's Game 5. Tampa Bay swept the Yankees. Game 1 is tonight at 8 p.m. ET at Tropicana Field. Every ALCS game airs on TBS and truTV and streams on HBO Max. Game 2 is Tuesday, Oct. 13 (8 p.m. ET). Games 3 and 4 are in Cleveland on Thursday, Oct. 15 and Friday, Oct. 16 (6 p.m. ET), and Game 5, if needed, is Saturday, Oct. 17 (8 p.m. ET). Games 6 and 7, if needed, are Monday, Oct. 19 (5 p.m. ET) and Tuesday, Oct. 20 (8 p.m. ET) in St. Petersburg.
  • Watch for overlaps. Tonight, the end of NLCS Game 2 could run into the start of ALCS Game 1. On Thursday, Oct. 15, ALCS Game 3 (6 p.m. ET, TBS) and NLCS Game 4 (9 p.m. ET, FOX/FS1) land on the same evening. If you follow both series, you'll want access to both the FOX/FS1 side and the TBS/HBO Max side this week.

College Football Playoff: ESPN's exclusive window closed, and talks continue. The CFP's 30-day exclusive window to negotiate media rights for a possible 24-team playoff with ESPN ended Friday, Oct. 9, without an agreement. On Saturday the CFP said it continues "to have ongoing discussions with ESPN" and called the dialogue "constructive." According to CBS Sports, the CFP planned to make its final financial proposal Friday. ESPN then has five business days to respond, which means a deadline of Oct. 16 or Oct. 19 depending on how the holiday is counted. If there's no deal, the CFP can take the added games to the open market, where ESPN keeps certain matching rights.

What it means for you: nothing changes for this season's playoff. ESPN's current CFP deal runs through the 2031–32 season (CBS Sports), and the 24-team format itself isn't final. The Big Ten and SEC have until Dec. 1 to decide on it. This is a deal in motion. If the extra games end up anywhere other than ESPN, we'll cover where they land once that's announced.
