The gist: DIRECTV and U-verse customers in the Blues' broadcast territory can now watch Blue Note+. The Blues announced today, Oct. 24, that DIRECTV has signed a new multi-year deal to carry the channel, starting with tonight's game against the Carolina Hurricanes.
What's new
- Where to find it: DIRECTV channel 673, or U-verse channels 1747/747.
- Which packages: DIRECTV CHOICE and higher, or U-verse U200 and above, according to the Blues.
- When: starting with the Oct. 24 game between the Blues and the Carolina Hurricanes.
- Where: the Blues' broadcast territory.
- Bars and restaurants: the Blues say the deal also gives DIRECTV FOR BUSINESS rights to show the games in sports bars, restaurants, fitness clubs and other commercial venues in the Blues' territory.
DIRECTV chief content officer Rob Thun said in the release: "We are committed to keeping fans connected to their favorite teams and giving them more choice and flexibility in how they watch and what they pay."
How this fits with earlier news
Two weeks ago, the Blues said DIRECTV/U-verse and Comcast hadn't agreed to carry Blue Note+. That has now changed for DIRECTV and U-verse. According to the Blues, Blue Note+ is also available on Prime Video, Spectrum and Fubo. Today's release doesn't mention Comcast.
This deal doesn't change the 10 "Thursday Night Blues" simulcasts on First Alert ABC that we covered on Oct. 12. Those games still air on Blue Note+ as well.
What we don't know yet
- The release names DIRECTV satellite packages and U-verse. It does not say whether DIRECTV STREAM carries Blue Note+, or which DIRECTV STREAM packages would include it.
- Price changes, if any: the release doesn't mention any.
