Streaming news roundup: Clippers games move to ClipperVision, the World Series is set for FOX, and how to watch NBA opening week
The Clippers named ClipperVision their local TV home, carried by Spectrum, DirecTV and Fubo. Plus: ALCS Game 6 tonight, the World Series on FOX from Oct. 23, and NBA opening week on NBC/Peacock, ESPN and Prime Video.

The gist: The Clippers finally announced their local TV plan. ClipperVision replaces FanDuel Sports Network SoCal and comes included with the same Spectrum, DirecTV and Fubo packages that carried the team last season. You can also subscribe to it directly. On the field, the Brewers swept the Dodgers and will host the World Series on FOX starting Friday, Oct. 23. Their opponent comes out of tonight's ALCS Game 6 (Guardians at Rays, TBS/truTV/HBO Max). The NBA season tips off Tuesday on NBC and Peacock. Away from the games, ESPN and the College Football Playoff reportedly have a "handshake agreement" on a 24-team playoff, and Fox and Roku shareholders approved their merger.
National
World Series: Brewers vs. the Guardians-Rays winner, on FOX. Milwaukee swept the Dodgers 4–0, finishing the NLCS on Thursday, Oct. 15. That's the Brewers' first pennant since 1982. Tampa Bay leads Cleveland 3–2 in the ALCS. Game 6 is tonight at 8 p.m. ET in St. Petersburg on TBS and truTV, streaming on HBO Max, with UniMas in Spanish. A Game 7, if needed, is Tuesday at the same time on the same channels. The ALCS has no off days left because of the Game 4 rainout. (Our Oct. 12 roundup has the earlier LCS viewing guide.)
The World Series starts Friday, Oct. 23, at 8 p.m. ET in Milwaukee. Every game airs on FOX and streams on FOX One, with FOX Deportes in Spanish. Univision also has Game 1. Dates: Games 1–2 Oct. 23–24 in Milwaukee. Games 3–4 Oct. 26–27 and Game 5 (if needed) Oct. 28 in the AL champion's park. Games 6–7 (if needed) Oct. 30–31 back in Milwaukee. All start at 8 p.m. ET.
What it means for you: FOX is a broadcast network, so you can get it with an antenna in markets with a local FOX station, through any live-TV service that carries your local FOX station, or on FOX One. MLB.TV only has World Series games if you sign in with a pay-TV provider that carries FOX. A standalone MLB.TV subscription won't do it.
NBA opening week: where each national game airs. The 2026–27 season starts Tuesday, Oct. 20, with an NBC/Peacock tripleheader. This is the second season of the league's national deals with NBC/Peacock, ESPN/ABC and Prime Video. Here's opening week, per the NBA (all times ET):
- Tue., Oct. 20 (NBC/Peacock): Celtics at Pistons, 3 p.m.; 76ers at Knicks, 7 p.m. (the Knicks raise their championship banner); Thunder at Spurs, 9:30 p.m.
- Wed., Oct. 21 (ESPN): Timberwolves at Heat, 7:30 p.m.; Warriors at Lakers, 10 p.m.
- Thu., Oct. 22 (ESPN): Cavaliers at 76ers, 7 p.m.; Nuggets at Thunder, 9:30 p.m.
- Fri., Oct. 23 (Prime Video): Knicks at Celtics, 7 p.m.; Rockets at Spurs (in Austin), 9:30 p.m.
- Mon., Oct. 26 (Peacock/NBCSN): Peacock NBA Monday starts with Warriors at Nuggets, 10 p.m.
What it means for you: the NBA says every ESPN/ABC game also streams in the ESPN app, every NBC game streams on Peacock, and Amazon's games are on Prime Video. NBC on Tuesdays is a broadcast network, so it's on your local NBC station. Peacock's Monday games are exclusive to Peacock and NBCSN, not NBC. Games that aren't national air on each team's local outlet. NBA League Pass covers out-of-market games only, and your local team is blacked out on it.
College Football Playoff: ESPN reportedly reaches a "handshake agreement" on 24 teams. Last week we reported that ESPN faced an Oct. 16 or 19 deadline to answer the CFP's final offer (Oct. 12 roundup). On Friday, Oct. 16, ESPN reported, citing sources, that the two sides reached a "handshake agreement" for ESPN to broadcast a 24-team playoff starting with the 2027 season. ESPN says there is "still significant work to be done on paper." Everything still needs board approval from all parties, and the format hasn't been finalized. The CFP's latest public statement (Oct. 15) says only that "constructive discussions with ESPN continued." It hasn't announced a deal.
What it means for you: nothing changes this season. The current 12-team playoff stays on ESPN, and the first round starts Dec. 18. If the deal is finalized as reported, the expanded playoff would stay with ESPN, which already holds CFP rights through the 2031–32 season. ESPN also reports the plan is expected to eliminate the Power 4 conference championship games. We'll cover the viewing details once there's an official announcement.
Fox–Roku clears its shareholder votes. On Wednesday, Oct. 14, Fox shareholders approved the stock issuance (99.9% of votes cast) and Roku stockholders adopted the merger agreement (81.5% of shares outstanding), according to each company's SEC filing. The deal still needs Justice Department clearance, and Fox expects it to close in the first half of 2027 (Variety).
What it means for you: nothing changes today. Roku devices, the Roku Channel, Tubi and FOX One work exactly as before. Fox says it will run Roku as an "open, partner-friendly platform." That's a company statement, not a guarantee. We'll cover any real changes to apps, channels or prices if and when they're announced.
Around the Markets
Los Angeles: Clippers games are on ClipperVision this season. The Clippers were the last of the 13 former Main Street Sports Group teams to announce a local plan (SBJ). On Wednesday, Oct. 14, they named ClipperVision their primary local TV home, replacing FanDuel Sports Network SoCal. (Back in September they were the last NBA team without a plan.) ClipperVision carries 77 games. According to the team:
- Through your TV provider: ClipperVision is included, with no extra subscription, in the same eligible Spectrum cable, DirecTV (satellite and DirecTV Stream) and Fubo packages that carried the Clippers last season. These are the providers fans in Southern California, Hawaii and parts of Nevada have traditionally used (SVG). The Clippers list Spectrum channels 309, 476 or 84 depending on location, and channel 370 in the Spectrum TV app for app-only customers. On DirecTV and Fubo, search "Clippers" in the guide.
- Direct subscription: $14.95/month or $89.95/season (team page, checked Oct. 19), streaming in the LA Clippers + Intuit Dome app, on NBA.com and in the NBA App. You don't need it if your TV package already includes ClipperVision.
- KTLA 5: 10 regular-season games are also simulcast on KTLA 5, starting with the home opener vs. Sacramento on Wednesday, Oct. 21 (7:30 p.m. PT).
- National exclusives: seven Clippers games air only on NBC/Peacock, Peacock, Prime Video or ESPN, and they won't be on ClipperVision. The team's page lists them.
The Clippers have called this a one-year arrangement. SBJ reports the team expects to join the NBA's centralized local hub in 2027–28, which still hasn't been formally announced.
Miami / West Palm Beach: Heat add My15 WTCN. On Thursday, Oct. 15, the Heat announced that Sinclair's My15 WTCN will carry 67 to 69 local Heat games over the air in the West Palm Beach market this season, starting Friday. WTCN joins Local 10 as the Heat's main local TV options in South Florida.
